മരണം എട്ടായി :പുത്തുമലയിൽ 50 പേരെ ഇനിയും കണ്ടെത്താനുണ്ടന്ന് നാട്ടുകാർ.: രക്ഷാപ്രവർത്തനം ദുഷ്കരം.
വയനാട് മേപ്പാടി പുത്തുമലയിൽ ഉരുൾപൊട്ടലിൽ മരിച്ചവരുടെ എണ്ണം എട്ടായി. ഇനിയും 40 നും 50- നും ഇടയിൽ ആളുകളെ പ്രദേശത്ത് നിന്ന് കാണാതായിട്ടുണ്ട്ന്ന് നാട്ടുകാർ പറയുന്നു. കാലാവസ്ഥ വളരെ മോശമായതിനാൽ രക്ഷാപ്രവർത്തനം ദുഷ്കരമായിരിക്കുകയാണ്. 80 അംഗ സംഘം രക്ഷാപ്രവർത്തനത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ്. സബ് കലക്ടർ നൽകിയ റിപ്പോർട്ട് ചുവടെ :
Was in meppadi panchayat. puthumala-pachakad region.At 5 PM today, an entire paadi in a tea estate has been swept away due to landslide. Majority of the ppl have been evacuated to a forest station in Mundakkai.
The ground situation is as follows ;
1. The road is fully blocked due to land slips.
2. 3 JCBs have been working from 6 o clock but even as they do the earth removal work,more landslip is happening and it is not safe to do anything further at this time.
3. There are missing people but we are not able to reach there right now so cannot ascertain count till morning.
4. NDRF unit and DSC unit have reached here just now. Morning at 6 we can start clearing road because clearing road now even as it is raining heavily is dangerous for the JCB and rescue personnel here.
5. This is a place which has not seen any landslide in the past 20 years. Even in the last year's floods,the place was safe.
6. The place has poor network connectivity.
The aim in the morning is to clear the road, evacuate people from the forest station to a more comfortable high school camp in meppady and start search operations for the missing people. The count can be finalised in the morning only. Ndrf,dsc,fire ,health ,revenue ,forest and police depts are all available..
